A graphic and abstract series of my journey along the water by sunrise. Since living on the water in IJburg Amsterdam, I have noticed becoming calm when surrounded by water. Such a beautiful view with pastel-colored skies brings me calmness, ideas, progress and reflection. This series is a visual representation of these thoughts.

No. 5 Move along
“It’s okay to be scared. Being scared means you’re about to do something really, really brave.” ~ Mandy Hale
Moving along whatever life brings us can be challenging. We often feel resistance, we fight or we flight. This has everything to do with fear. We try to be in control because we don’t like this anxious feeling. We end up in a state of survival instead of living. We try to row against the tide and it takes a lot of energy. So instead, what is the solution? Facing this fear and moving along with what life brings. Go with the flow🌊Don’t let this fear stop you. Jan Geurtz also describes fear as your greatest friend, which I find a very nice metaphor. In such anxious moments, replace the word ‘fear’ with ‘jitters’ or ‘movement’. Allow this flow of ‘jitters’ into your body again, face it. Bet it creates enthusiasm, new energy, movement, new ideas and clarity!

No. 6 Reflection
“Art is not a reflection of reality, It is the reality of a reflection.” ~ Jean-Luc Godard.
We all have our own perception of the world shaped by experience and environment. That image is your truth. Remember that the other (also) has its own truth. We all have our own way of looking the world and art. Our opinion is not right or wrong, it is just ours.
